Chocolate Syrup Pound Cake
1/2 lb. butter or 2 sticks margarine
1/2 cup of CRISCO
3 cups of sugar
5 eggs
3 cups of plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup of milk
1 lb. can of chocolate syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter and CRISCO; add chocolate syrup and sugar; beat
until smooth. Add eggs one at a time and continue to beat. Combine
sifted flour and baking powder alternately with milk. Stir in
vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured large 10" tube pan. Start
in a cold oven. Do not open oven for 1 hour. Bake 1 hour and 30
minutes at 325degrees.

Mrs. Durham's Pound Cake
1/2 lb. butter or margarine
1/2 cup CRISCO
3 cups sugar
3 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
6 eggs
1 cup milk
vanilla, lemon or almond flavoring
Cream sugar, butterand CRISCO. Add eggs one at a time, beating
well after each. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add
flour and milk alternately to the mixture, beginning and ending
with flour. ' Add flavoring. Bake 1 and 1/2 hours at 300 degrees.
For chocolate: add 5 tablespoons of cocoa and use 5 eggs instead
of 6.
