Plain Pound Cake
3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
2 sticks margarine
1/2 cup CRISCO
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon (pure lemon extract)
1 cup milk
Cream sugar, margarine and shortening well; add eggs one at a time, blending well after each. Add flour and milk alternately. Add flavoring. Pour into tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 and 1/2 hours, (I bake about 1 hour and 15 minutes; turn the oven off and let cake remain in over 15 minutes more).

Seven-Up Pound Cake
2 sticks of butter
1/2 cup of shortening
3 cups of sugar
5 eggs
3 cups of plain flour
1 cup of 7-UP
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Beat well. Add one egg at a time. Add flour and 7-UP alternately. Add flav oring and mix well. Grease and flour tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 and 1/2 hours. Cool 20 minutes in pan before removing.
