A note from your webmaster:
Pauline Harpe gave my mother, Harriett Downey, a copy of the Reavis Family Cookbook in 1991. Harriett passed away in September 2005. While tending to her belongings a couple of years later, we were happily surprised to find the cookbook in the kitchen cupboard.
As a gesture of appreciation for the relationships my mother enjoyed with so many members of the Reavis family, I have translated the cookbook into this web site. The many supportive relationships within the community added meaning to Harriett's time on earth and encouraged her life force. The kindness and support of the Reavis' meant a great deal to my mother and accordingly to our entire family.
It is my hope that the online version of the family cookbook will make it easier to pass recipes to future generations and to share those food traditions with others.
